85% of people surfing the Net looking for specific web sites that might help them in some way enter a 'Search Term/Phrase' into a Search Engine (ie Google, MSN etc.) The Search Engine will then give them the results of that 'search' - the engine finds sites that have the phrase reflected both in a page's content, its source code and many other variables and lists them in what it considers 'relevance' to the search enquiry.(normally 10 sites per page of results so if you're number 150 the chances of anyone clicking on your link are remote at best).
