You've no doubt visited various web sites with lots of things 'going on' on their pages. Bet you haven't come across many talking / animated web sites though !

A lot of these effects though can be annoying and so are to be avoided - things like Background Muzak and Animated images. Yuk!

We'll even stick our Designer Neck out and say that we don't like Flash Intro pages (sometimes known as Splash pages) - nobody can be bothered viewing the bloody things + they confuse Search Engines!

However if an effect adds to the look and functionality of your site then why not use it? Whatever you do don't go MAD and use them all, we only do so on this site as it's our showcase - and we're just showing off !
